Putting Stroke Compensations Are Symptoms Of Poor Alignment

Its like a doctor treating symptoms, but never curing the problem. Putter alignment can be corrected with various adjustments including: player set-up, head position, ball position, alignment methods, alignment aids, hosel and putter configuration, and many others.

The challenge in golf club fitting is for the Certified Club Maker to determine the proper specifications for each individual and then provide proper instruction in its use. With our proven methods at Tayler's Quality Golf, we give the golfers the necessary tools and information to achieve success.

Our club-fitting process first addresses the most important aspect in putting: alignment. Over 70% of golfers misalign a 12 to 15 straight putt to some degree. Because an individual can aim different putters differently, we determined it was necessary to utilize a tool to accurately detect misalignment in all putters. The Ocular Laser Light and Target Backboard has become an essential tool used by some of the finest short game experts in the industry.

Over time our sub-conscience, another very powerful tool, creates stroke compensations for our misalignment. How many times have you stood behind your playing partner, observed him aim left of the target, and then watch him proceed to take a putter path inside out, effectively pushing the ball to the hole.

The second aspect of our fitting process addresses putting mechanics. Although we tend to believe in and teach a simple single plane stroke with proper set up and few moving parts, the putter can be made to fit any putting method. Once we have determined a good set-up and posture, we use the fitting putter to determine lie angle and shaft length. A comfortable posture, matched with ideal shaft length and lie angle will ensure a more consistent putter path.

The third aspect of our fitting process addresses tempo. With the exception of alignment, the one thing that separates good putting from poor putting is tempo. Putter balance and weighting can have a tremendous impact on an individuals tempo. And although determining the appropriate weight in the putter head and grip is not an exact science, having the option to adjust the weighting in a Kirk Curries Signature Putter will allow the user to identify the best fit.

The final important aspect of putting is talent. And although we are all born with a certain level of talent, Grant C. Tayler, our Certified Master Club Maker and his team, will help shape that talent. A properly fit putter with proper instruction will allow an individual to reach his maximum potential.
